From the Group Chat: Our 5 Most Noteworthy Listings of the Week
Catskills Ski Houses + One Extraordinary Aspen Home
Happy Wednesday!
Hannah here: half of the Escape Brooklyn editorial team, and a licensed real estate agent with a soft spot for houses with character.
Inside the Escape Brooklyn group chat, there’s a steady stream of Zillow links flying back and forth. As a team, we love houses — and as an agent, I can confirm: I really, really love them.
I’m especially drawn to time capsules, quirky cottages, and unusual architecture. When I find ones that tick these boxes, I send them. A lot. Eventually, we had a lightbulb moment: instead of keeping these finds to ourselves, we should share them.
And so, our new biweekly “From the Group Chat” series — a small real estate bonus for our paid subscribers — was born. Welcome!

Back in November, we published our updated Guide to Upstate NY Skiing. Between that and last week’s snowstorm, I’ve been especially drawn to ski houses. Growing up in the Pocono Mountains and now living in Kingston, I’m used to a long-ish drive to the slopes. It’s always worth it, but let’s be honest: the less time there is between loading your skis after your final run and curling up on the couch for the night, the better.
It’s that craving for a shorter commute that inspired our first roundup of listings: four Catskills houses that really stood out, all about (or less than) fifteen minutes from the slopes. We’re also including a grand mountain home in Aspen, Colorado, whose price tag at $45m is out of reach for most, but extraordinary all the same.
All of these homes made it into our group chat, and should probably make it into yours, too. Check out our favorite details about each, plus links to the full listings, below.
Happy house hunting!
