Howdy, Escape Club subscribers! Happy Friday.
I’m penning this week’s newsletter from the Two Good Cabins. (I gently suggested a rebrand to Two Excellent Cabins, no word on that yet.)
Just over two hours from NYC, this pair of lakeside cabins are located on a peaceful, non-motorized lake in the heart of the Catskills. Accommodating up to seven guests in five bedrooms, two cozy cabins offer just the right amount of space and privacy for groups of friends and family.
While you’re in the area, start your day at the new Grizzly Bagels (best bagels in NYS? I think so, but you be the judge), hike past a waterfall to a mountaintop lake, and make sure to visit Buck Brook Alpacas for a visit with the alpacas who are literal walking teddy bears – plus a few surprise guests along the way. (Also see: Escape Brooklyn’s Roscoe, NY Guide.)
Hey, have you ever wondered how all these travel content pieces came to be? I (Erin, founder of EB) shoot almost all of them! In each featured location, my camera and I spend a few days the property and the surrounding area, sharing the best outdoor things to do, plus my favorite places to see, eat, drink, and shop along the way. Then I write about it, share it, and you guys book the trips. It’s a fun job, but I can’t say it’s the most profitable career – small business is hard! Ultimately though, this work is very rewarding, I love hearing from people who take our trips, and I acknowledge my absolute privilege in running a company like Escape Brooklyn.
It’s with all this in mind that I’m bringing our usually-bubbly intros down a notch this week, and asking you to join our efforts to bring some relief to our friends in Florida and North Carolina.
Today and this weekend, we are giving 100% of new membership proceeds to the relief efforts in Florida and North Carolina. If you were waiting for a time to become a supporting member, now would be a wonderful time to do it. Your payment turns directly into a donation, and you’ll get a year of paywalled content as a thank you.
I’m humbled daily by the beauty in this region, its people, and for the immense privilege I have to share it with you all. As we come off the high from last night’s spectacular aurora that spanned much of the US, let us remember those who are really, really hurting right now under the same big sky. Hit that subscribe button and we’ll donate 100% of the proceeds from this weekend’s subscriptions.
We hope you enjoy this week’s content, and hope that some of you unpaid subscribers upgrade your membership this weekend. ;) Let’s do some good together!
Happy Friday,
-Erin, Founder & Creative Director + the EB team
Livingston Manor Fly Fishing Club Reopens: Book a Weekend Stay, Wedding, or Group Retreat
Less than two hours from NYC, Livingston Manor Fly Fishing Club brings the river-centric heritage of the Western Catskills to an intimate, one-of-a-kind venue. Hosted by the Audrey’s Farmhouse team, LMFFC is best suited for lovers of the outdoors: this event space enjoys a uniquely magical riverfront setting, nestled in an old growth forest, inside the Catskill Park.
Wedding ceremonies are held next to the river, before moving into Nordic-inspired Tentipis for dinner, dancing and festivities. All events are catered by the Audrey’s Farmhouse team, making for a low-stress celebration that goes well into the evening.
Livingston Manor Fly Fishing Club is accepting bookings for the 2025 and 2026 wedding seasons. In addition to weddings, LMFFC also hosts events like wellness retreats, brand meetings, company outings, and photoshoots. (Fly-fishing experience/enthusiasm welcome, but not necessary!)
Onsite, the LMFFC private clubhouse is ready to host groups, accommodating up to ten guests in two separate units — each with their own kitchen, dining and living areas. After a weekend of celebrating, guests can unwind by the river in its wood-fired hot tub, fly-fish, swim, or continue festivities on Main Street Livingston Manor (EB guide here), just a five minute walk away.
Last and definitely not least: because it *just* reopened and isn’t totally booked out for weddings, you can have LMFFC all to yourself as a vacation rental this autumn. Book an overnight stay during the months of October, November, and December, where rates begin around $500/night.

EB Loves Cider + Also Apparently It’s New York Cider Week?
The content stars aligned this week while we were (already) making a list of very special cideries: apparently it’s New York State Cider Week? Who knew! And though it’s ending on the 13, we’re just getting started…
In yesterday’s Escape Club Members Only Newsletter, EB team member Hannah Crisafulli shares six favorite spots to enjoy cider – plus she’s planned entire vacations around them, including one cidery where you can eat, drink, and spend the night. Enjoy responsibly!
Cowboy Boots, Vintage Denim, Desert Island Book Picks and Dried Florals: Manor Goods Opens in Livingston Manor, NY
Cowboy boots, designer dresses, desert island book picks, piles of vintage denim and dried floral arrangements: this is the curated collection at @manorgoods, whose doors opened a few weeks ago in Livingston Manor, New York.
Following an extensive renovation, Manor Goods is located in what was once the butcher’s prep area of a 1940’s supermarket. Inside the space, original concrete floors and industrial shelving are softened by florals of all kinds: floral wallpaper, lacy dresses and skirts, silky floral tops and books about gardening. Buckets and bouquets of beautiful, unique flowers adorn its shelves, tables and walls — and even hang from the ceiling, not unlike a butcher shop.
Playing with juxtaposition of hard and soft throughout the store, the detail in its merchandising makes Manor Goods a delight to shop. Find cleverly paired items such as the provocative read “St. Marks is Dead” found next to a vintage studded denim vest; or shop from the buckets of dried flowers, found next to local Catskills field guides, or cabin-coffee-table-must-haves like Living Upriver.
Open weekends, Saturday & Sunday 12 to 5 p.m., or by private appointment/personalized services, including styling sessions and expert jean fittings. (Shoot owner Kama Carnes an email for appointments: manorgoodsny@gmail.com) 67 Main Street in Livingston Manor, NY.
That’s all for this week – catch you soon, and have a great weekend!
